Laser
Skin Resurfacing
Also
known as "laser peel," laser skin resurfacing usually
takes less than 1½ hours (sometimes just a few minutes) depending
on the size of the area being treated. The procedure uses a
carbon dioxide (CO2) laser beam which vaporizes the upper layers
of damaged skin at controlled levels of penetration. Also
used is Erbium Laser beam.
The procedure
removes areas of damaged or wrinkled skin often caused by
prolonged sun exposure. Laser resurfacing can minimize the
appearance of fine lines around the mouth and the eyes and is also
effective in treating facial scars and skin areas with uneven
pigmentation.
Other procedures done in
our office are sclerotherapy, Botox, TCA peels, glycolic acid peels
and BioMedic peels.
Hair
Removal
Laser hair removal is a finely tuned
sophisticated procedure done with the use of laser. This specific laser
is designed to remove the growth center at the base of the hair
follicle. The laser emits a gentle beam of light that passes
through the skin, to the hair follicle, where it is absorbed. Upon
absorption, the laser energy is transformed into heat, which can disable
the follicle.
The majority of the body parts are appropriate for the
use of this laser. It is essentially a painless procedure, it can
be performed in the office and does not require anesthesia. The
laser is FDA approved and in general 3 laser treatments 4 weeks apart
are required for complete removal of the hair in the region.
